CULTURE AND EMPATHY

     British Pub

British pubs were publicly accessible premises licensed to sell food and drink in the United Kingdom in the 19th century. Today the British pub is a cultural pillar of the United Kingdom, where its cozy atmosphere, its varied selection of beers and its historical past create a unique social experience. These pubs often carry distinctive names, intertwined with the local community. As well as offering a variety of beers, many pubs serve classic dishes such as fish and chips. People gather to socialize, participate in games such as darts and enjoy live music, a true mix of tradition and socialization.

The Gitano Phrase

“Ningún gitano quiere para su hijo buenos principios”: You seek to console someone, and sometimes yourself, for a difficult start in some activity. The confusion lies in considering this problematic beginning as the fundamental norm that guides thought or behavior, giving more importance to the temporal aspect than to the ethical one. That is, the temporality of the beginning is overvalued instead of adhering to more solid ethical principles.

 Public Schools In United Kingdom

In the United Kingdom, public schools are those funded by the government and open to all residents free of charge. Unlike the international idea of "public schools", which are private and elitist, these British institutions are regulated by the government. Although quality may vary, in general, they seek to provide accessible education and are available to the general population, with no direct costs to students.

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy and wise”

This saying suggests that going to bed early and getting up early leads to better health and wisdom. It implies that maintaining a disciplined sleep schedule leads to overall well-being and improves mental clarity and intelligence.

It is valued for its nutritional content, as it provides a good source of carbohydrates, fiber and essential nutrients. BBC

BBC English refers to a standardized form of British English pronunciation and accent commonly associated with broadcasters and announcers on the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) radio and television networks

The term "BBC English" is used because the BBC has historically set high standards for pronunciation and clarity in broadcasting. The BBC aimed for a standardized accent that could be easily understood by listeners and viewers across the UK and around the world, regardless of their regional background.

American Novelist

One American novelist I've read and admired is Harper Lee, best known for her classic novel "To Kill a Mockingbird." This timeless masterpiece explores themes of racial injustice, moral growth, and empathy in the American South during the 1930s. What draws me to this novel is Lee's skillful storytelling, vivid characterization, and poignant portrayal of societal issues. The novel's enduring relevance and its exploration of universal themes make it a compelling and enriching read for audiences of all ages.

“It’s no use crying over spilt milk”
"No vale la pena llorar sobre la leche derramada."
This means that there's no point in being upset over something that has already happened and cannot be changed.

“Don´t put the cart before the horse”
"No pongas el carro delante de los bueyes."
This phrase suggests it's important to follow the right order when doing things, not skipping important steps.
